For nearly 40 years we have both been making our living from photography, and photography alone. Anticipating an often asked question, we are both photographers and we have often worked separately for different clients and shot our own personal work as the opportunity offered.
We became photographers almost by accident and by and large it has been a happy accident, providing us with an interesting and relatively adventurous way of life.
It all began in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea in the early 1970s where we were working in agriculture in an environment hardly explored and hardly documented. Our first photographic interest was photo-journalism with an extraordinarily rewarding subject. Arriving back in Europe with no visible means of support we returned to Scotland and eventually worked our way into advertising photography with a studio in Edinburgh. Studio work was more lucrative than absorbing and the beginning of the oil boom in the North Sea offered work much more to our taste. Like all good things, the peak was followed by a trough and we moved to London and began about 15 years of world wide travel for corporate clients, usually going our separate ways.
With the overseas travel came the opportunity to build up an extensive library of photographs which we have been marketing world wide for over 20 years. Change comes more quickly than it should and photo library receipts are not what they once were. But then, it was time to change and time to concentrate on the photography that we really enjoy; work that revives the pleasure in what we do; a pleasure that the needs of our clients and our agencies had compromised.
At last, independence of a sort, we are committed to photographing the subjects that interest us most and to presenting them in a way that pleases us. We are making art prints for sale mostly in limited editions giving us, for the first time, control over our work from start to finish.

We are always interested to hear comments relating to our work and we are always interested to hear of subjects that others might wish to suggest or recommend as assignments or projects.
